On Saturday, November 13th, Rockledge will officially become a little more German with the Grand Opening of the Hop Angel Brauhaus.
Owners of the Grey Lodge Pub, Mike “Scoats” Scotese and Patrick McGinley have set out on a new adventure in the restaurant/bar industry. When the news broke that the old Blue Ox Bistro had closed it’s doors, Scoats jumped at the opportunity.
“I’ve wanted to do a Brauhaus ever since Ludwig’s Garten closed,” says Scoats.
Hop Angel is located right across the street from the famous Rieker’s Meats on Oxford Ave. The building, which was erected in 1683(One year after the city of Philadelphia was founded), intrigued both Pat and Scoats, making their decision an easy one.
Only a few changes have been made inside, but the building still maintains that old German feel. Along with the changes, they have also redone the whole beer tap system. On the new system, you will find traditional German brews as well as American takes on classic German styles. As for the food, it will remain as German as possible with traditional German cuisine. You won’t find any mozzarella sticks or hot wings here. Take a look for yourself!
Since their soft opening on September 20th, Scoats couldn’t be happier. “The support from the Mayor of Rockledge, Harold Praediger, and the local patrons has been fantastic,” said Scoats.
If you can’t make the Grand Opening, Hop Angel Brauhaus is open Sunday through Saturday from 11am-2am. For more info on their Grand Opening be sure to check their website.
